The revived Edouard Koehn now offers its distinctive timepieces which perpetuate the Swiss watch industry&rsquo;s leading role in high horology.

Edouard Koehn, born into a watchmaking family in 1839, followed in the footsteps of his father, Karl Koehn, a court clockmaker in the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Germany. After an apprenticeship with his father, Edouard moved to Geneva in 1859 to study at the Ecole d&rsquo;Horlogerie de Gen&egrave;ve, the oldest watchmaking school in Switzerland. In 1861, he joined Patek Philippe and, due to his exceptional skills, rose from an entry-level position to become a director and shareholder by 1876, alongside Albert Cingria and Gabriel Marie Rouge. His technical expertise and personality were key factors in his success, as noted in the book &ldquo;Patek Philippe Geneve&rdquo; by Martin Huber and Alan Banbery. Notably, Patek Philippe was founded in the same year as Edouard's birth.
As noted by Bonhams&rsquo; watch specialist Jonathan Snellenburg: &ldquo;Edouard Koehn rose from watchmaker to partner in the firm Patek Philippe. He left the firm in 1891 to make watches under his own name and that of H.R. Ekegren. Not surprisingly, his work is of the same high quality.&rdquo;

Today, the revived Edouard Koehn as a brand is an acknowledgment of the founder&rsquo;s exceptional horological skills with its offering of distinctive timepieces that perpetuate the Swiss watch industry&rsquo;s leading role in high horology. An accomplished watchmaker, Edouard Koehn (1839 to 1908) cut his professional teeth at Patek Philippe, eventually becoming a shareholder of the company. However, the brand&rsquo;s legacy began after Edouard Koehn parted ways with Patek Philippe in 1891, acquired an existing Manufacture and earned himself a place in horological history as an independent watchmaker by crafting high quality movements, in particular, complicated timepieces such as split-seconds chronographs and minute repeaters bearing his name. The brand&rsquo;s revival allows collectors to discover timepieces of distinction deeply inspired by the legacy of a talented watchmaker and high horology in Swiss watchmaking."
