Montblanc unveils the stunning new limited edition, the 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen timepiece.

Montblanc's 1858 Collection timepieces are meticulously crafted to be tough and accurate enough for mountain exploration. They draw inspiration from the iconic Minerva pocket watches and chronographs of the 1920s and 1930s which were originally designed for military use. In 2024, the latest addition to the collection, the 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen, showcases a design that is as robust as the innovation it embodies. With this timepiece, Montblanc takes the concept of oxygen&mdash;central to any daring ascent, to new heights.
The &rsquo;oxygen&rsquo; component here refers to the new case of the watch. Montblanc&rsquo;s innovative new case material is produced through a pioneering process that captures CO2 from biogas production and mineral waste from recycling factories. This is achieved through calcium dissolution and carbonation, resulting in a powder containing CO2 (CaCO3). The harvested powder is then combined with ultra-light and durable carbon fibre to create a cutting-edge composite material, CARBO2, which is then expertly crafted into the watch's middle case. As a bonus, the material also boasts a striking graphic aesthetic, with its dark shades varying based on the specific mix of carbon fibre and CaCO3. This pattern perfectly complements the philosophy behind the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere 0 Oxygen and makes it a standout in the collection.
As the latest addition to the Maison's &ldquo;Zero Oxygen&rdquo; collection, the watch is tailor-made for intrepid explorers. Designed for harsh environments, these timepieces eliminate oxygen within the case, preventing fogging from sudden temperature shifts at high altitudes. The construct also halts oxidation and ensures each component lasts longer. Each Zero Oxygen timepiece comes with a certificate of authenticity, confirming its unique, oxygen-free construction.

With the spirit of adventure in mind, the titanium and CARBO2 case features an engraved luminous blue outline of the Mont Blanc Mountain on the side. This effect is visible only to the wearer and mirrors the ancient, denser glaciers that turn a gleaming blue and white by day and glowing blue by night. Like magic, the glow is achieved through application of Super-LumiNova&reg; and a protective varnish. At the back, the titanium caseback also showcases the mountain, brought to life with Montblanc&rsquo;s 3D laser technique.
Inside the watch beats the MB 29.25 automatic movement, featuring Montblanc&rsquo;s Manufacture worldtime complication. This includes rotating globes of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, marked with blue Greenwich meridian lines and 14 dots representing the world's 8000m peaks. The watch also features a Day &amp; Night indicator, a 24-hour scale, dual time display, and a date function.
A bi-directional titanium ceramic fluted bezel is installed with blue luminescent cardinal points and a blue gasket beneath the sapphire crystal. The dial sports a black sfumato glacier pattern, crafted using a complex technique known as gratt&eacute;-bois&eacute;.
