The UR-102 achieves a new milestone and outlook.

"The UR-102 is more than a symbol. It embodies the first collaboration with Martin Frei, our first steps into the world of fine watchmaking, our first dreams of independence,&rdquo; says Felix Baumgartner, master watchmaker and co-founder of URWERK.

It is not an easy feat to remake something that is already so iconic. Case in point &ndash; the URWERK UR-102. First seen at Baselworld 1997, the watch is still relevant as it has not aged at all. With this in mind the dynamic duo of Martin Frei and Felix Baumgartner decided to take on the challenge to relook at the UR-102 and give it a few adjustments to bring the collection up to speed with the current times. Enter the UR-102 "reloaded".
Maybe the most significant round-cased timepiece from URWERK, the UR-102 is an enduring symbol of the brand and serves as a key milestone for it. As usual, there are no conventional time-telling hands to be found here. An hour aperture traverses across a semi-circular track, pointing to the current minute as it moves along. Sounds simple enough but it is not so simple in execution as &nbsp;a lot of complex horological magic has to happen within the URWERK 2.02 calibre to make this happen.

"For this UR-102, our concept featured a time indicator that looked like a celestial body. It picked up the vibe of Sputnik, the first man-made artificial satellite,&rdquo; says Martin Frei, artistic director and co-founder of URWERK.

To earn the &lsquo;reloaded&rsquo; moniker, a new font is used for the hours and minutes markers in addition to new information being presented on the dial. Other changes include case dimensions which have been expanded to 41mm in diameter and the lugs that have been enlarged to match.
All in, the watch is successfully refreshed as it continues to stand the test of time. The UR-102 'reloaded' can now be obtained as a boxed set, featuring two exquisite versions: one crafted from sleek titanium and the other showcasing the iconic URWERK black design. This timepiece is an embodiment of exclusivity, limited to a mere 25 pieces each.
