Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024 was inaugurated to big fanfare at Palexpo-Geneva on the 9th of April 2024.

The official inauguration of Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024 occurred on the afternoon of the 9th of April, 2024 at Palexpo-Geneva, Switzerland. The event was attended by economic and political figures from the City and Canton of Geneva, along with the CEOs of the 54 exhibiting Maisons. The ceremony commenced with a welcome video presented by Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, head of the Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research. This video was subsequently shared with numerous journalists and guests who were invited to the occasion.
Jean-Fr&eacute;d&eacute;ric Dufour, President of the Watches and Wonders Geneva Foundation, then spoke about the event's role in uniting and promoting the watchmaking industry internationally. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and the focus on the younger generation with the words, "Together we go further".

Furthermore, Delphine Bachmann, State Councillor in charge of the Department of Economy and Labour, reflected on Geneva's historical role as a refuge and its impact on the development of the watchmaking industry. She highlighted the positive figures for Swiss and Geneva watch exports and commented on how Watches and Wonders Geneva not only displays the expertise of the watchmaking professions but also signals the innovative and dynamic future of this industry.
To add flair to the proceedings, the ceremony was enhanced with an artistic interlude by artist S&eacute;bastien Gu&eacute;rive, who used his performance to illustrate the metaphor of time, adding a captivating element to the inauguration. The event concluded in the evening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, marking the official opening of Watches and Wonders Geneva 2024.
